You can help by speaking or writing to any or all of the below:
- Your local councillor. (Find details of your local councillor here)
- The Mayor: Jyotsna Rahman Islam
- The relevant Cabinet members. Lloyd Duddridge is Cabinet member for Children, Young People and Education. Namreen Chaudhry is Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Communities
- The leader of the Council: Jas Athwal
- Councillors Zulfiqar Hussain and Saira Jamil who are on the Board of Trustees for Vision who manage the Centre on behalf of the Council
You can tell them what you personally value about the centre, why you are worried about it closing, ask them what they are doing to represent your views and demand a meaningful consultation process. You can also ask for answers to some of the questions we are asking (see Questions section).

Do you have legal expertise, experience with applying for public grants, graphic design, video-editing or marketing skills, fundraising know-how or time to help with our open events and publicity?
You could really help the Save Our Wanstead Youth Centre response group by donating just a small amount of your time and expertise.

If you’re active on social media please like and share our accounts and posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and comment on any online articles you see about Wanstead Youth Centre – helping showcase just how much the community values the Centre.
If you are a Centre user you can post a message on your own social media about how much the Centre means to you and what impact it would have if it closes on 15 October. Be sure to tag the Council and the Save Our Wanstead Youth Centre accounts in your posts.

Do you run a club or activity somewhere else in the borough or would like to start one and would love a venue to run it in Wanstead? Wanstead Youth Centre could be the perfect location! Currently Vision are not taking bookings but we are collecting expressions of interest to demonstrate the viability of the centre.
